The 501(c)(3) Parent Teacher Organization is an active and inclusive community of adult volunteers at Merritt Academy. Parents/guardians of enrolled students automatically qualify for membership and may engage in PTO activities. Throughout the calendar year, Merritt Academy relies on the PTO to support the fundamental pillars of academic excellence. These include:
The impact of PTO initiatives depend entirely on the physical and financial support of our parent community. Throughout the year, our functions, fundraisers and campaigns generate revenue critical to advancing Merritt Academy and all stakeholders. Every dollar raised will enhance your child’s academic world, from the classrooms to curricula. Now more than ever, the PTO needs your engagement for a safe and successful array of virtual programs. Volunteers are welcome, especially when in-person events can resume. And – as always – the J127 Education Foundation is pledged to match 100% of proceeds from parents like you.

PTO events for 2024-25 include Halloween Merritt Mash, Parents Night Out, Restaurant Nights, Holiday House, Annual Auction Gala, Spring Fling and Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.

Box Tops are commonly found on household items. Please collect any box tops that you have on regular grocery items and bring them to the school front office. Merritt Academy receives 10 cents for each box top collected. There is also an app that can be downloaded from Apple and GooglePlay. It has bonus coupons and you can download your receipt to automatically get box tops sent to the school—no clipping required!
