A Variety of Solutions
Merritt Academy’s strong after-school program dates to its founder Rachel Merritt wanting to help make life easier for parents. Today in an effort to serve every family through our responsiveness, flexibility and support we offer a variety of Extended Service and Afternoon Activities and the Merritt Academy After School Program
Choosing the right school for K – 5th is critical. At this age student learn best when they are actively engaged in the process. Merritt Academy is a place that recognizes the developmental abilities of children and targets instruction to work with those abilities.
Merritt Academy After School Program (MAAP)
The Merritt Academy After School Program provides a safe, fun, enriching after-school environment for students attending area elementary schools. Transportation is provided from Fairfax County Public schools to Merritt Academy’s campus immediately after dismissal. An after-school snack is provided and students participate in a diverse range of activities. 2nd-6th grade students start their afternoons in a teacher-proctored study hall, allowing a quiet environment to complete homework or read. Younger students enjoy recess outside on our expansive playground, followed by games, crafts or read alouds in the classrooms.
Additionally All MAAP students are eligible to register for our extensive list of Afternoon Activities
