Athletics

Athletics are an important part of the Merritt Academy experience, giving students opportunities to stay active while building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through practices, games, and healthy competition, students learn perseverance, sportsmanship, and the value of working toward a common goal. Merritt Academy proudly offers competitive track, basketball, cross-country and soccer teams that compete against other area schools, giving students the chance to represent their school, build lasting friendships, strengthen school spirit, and develop a lifelong appreciation for an active, healthy lifestyle.

Movement, Physical Education & Outdoor Play

At Merritt Academy, students stay active and engaged through age-appropriate movement experiences that support physical development, coordination, and overall well-being. Our preschool students participate in movement classes and outdoor play that encourage gross motor development, balance, creativity, and social interaction through fun, hands-on activities. As students progress into kindergarten through 8th grade, they participate in physical education classes and outdoor recreation that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy habits, and lifelong fitness. From active play to structured physical activities, students build confidence while developing skills that support both physical and personal growth.
