Preschool Program (3 and 4 year olds)
Curriculum
Our preschool program is designed to facilitate learning for our three and four year olds through learning centers. The ratio of teachers to students is 1:10. Along with the weekly thematic and the monthly values curriculum, the children are introduced to the A Beka curriculum to help them develop their:
- Letter, number, shape and color recognition
- Phonetic sounds
- Fine motor/gross motor skills
- Pre-reading skills (in preparation for Kindergarten)
- Pre-math skills (in preparation for Kindergarten)
Daily music, movement experiences, and learning centers are used to promote growth and give teachers the opportunity to observe and interact with the children. The learning centers include:
- Creative Arts
- Dramatic Arts
- Language Arts
- Construction
- Science and Nature
- Math Manipulatives
- Reading
Our preschoolers also engage in specialty classes including:
- Library
- Physical Education/Creative Movement
- Music
- Computers
- French/Spanish
Schedule
After morning recess, the children spend the time before lunch in learning centers and specialty classes. After lunch, the children have recess and then a nap. In the afternoon, the children have free play and centers. For children who have signed up, afternoon activities take place after 3:00 p.m. Afternoon activities may include:
- Cooking club
- Art club
- Spanish club
- French club
- Bible club
- Gym Jam
- Gymnastics
- Ballet
- Soccer Stations
- Sculpting club
- Phonics club
Requirements to Enter
Since our K3 program is especially designed to meet the developmental needs of three year olds, please keep in mind:
- Your child must be three years old by September 30th.
- Your child must be fully potty trained
- Your child needs to possess the verbal ability to let the teacher know he or she needs to use the bathroom, and the physical ability to undress and dress when using the bathroom.
The requirement for the K4 program is that your child is four years old by September 30th.
