Infants Program (6 weeks – 23 months)
Curriculum and Schedule
Our infant program is for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 23 months. The rooms have been designed to provide your baby with a happy, safe, and nurturing environment. From birth, infants are marvelous learners, and immediately investigate the sights and sounds of the world. Our teachers have been trained to respond quickly and appropriately to your baby's needs by providing stimulating activities to enhance development. In our Infant room (6 weeks - approximately 12 months), our teachers adapt to each child's individual schedule. The ratio of teachers to students aged 6 weeks to 17 months is 1:4.
Each infant is unique, and teachers provide stimulating activities to enhance their development and meet specific needs. As each child grows and matures, activities become more challenging. There is a strong emphasis on language and social development at this age. During the day, the children will enjoy listening to stories and music, participating in art activities and learning centers that incorporate the week's theme and month values. Gross and fine motor development, social development, and emotional development are strongly focused upon when planning lessons. For children aged 18-24 months, the ratio of teachers to students is 1:5.
Each classroom is supplied with toys designed to help experience different sights and sounds. The nursery is fitted with cribs for children in the infant room, and the children sleep according to their own schedule. Children over approximately 12 months begin sleeping on cots. We start introducing sign language in our infant program. This helps stimulate the babies and expand their communication skills.
Outside the Classroom
The babies take daily rides in our “baby-buggy” around the school campus and are always met with smiling faces.
The infants also take part in our Intergenerational Program with a weekly “Baby Talk.” “Baby Talk” is a chance for the infants to interact with seniors and vice versa. The preschoolers are also taken next door to Sunrise Assisted Living and spend time singing and playing with the seniors.
