The great value of a Merritt Academy education goes far beyond small class sizes and extended care hours from 6:30am to 6:30pm twelve months a year. Great value also means fresh, well-balanced lunches and snacks provided at no additional cost, more days open to students than Fairfax County Public Schools, frequent field trips, diverse specialty class offerings, including two foreign languages (Spanish and French instruction that begins with our three year-old students), Art, Music, Computers, Physical Education and Library and a host of on-site extracurricular enrichment activities, including clubs, sports clinics and piano lessons- just to name a few.
Great value means personalized academic enrichment including a Gifted Program that meets the needs of the highest-achieving students, as well as a flexible curriculum designed to challenge each student at their own ability level. Our frequent off-campus field trips give our students an appreciation of the world beyond the classroom. Recent trips have included an overnight visit to the Osprey Point Retreat and Conference Center in Maryland to study leadership alongside the resident Trinity Fellows, and attend a two-day service leadership summit in Morgantown, West Virginia.
