ESL Enrichment Program
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Merritt Academy's ESL Enrichment Program has been developed to allow students whose first language is not English and who need assistance in the learning environment in the area of reading comprehension to learn techniques designed to strengthen that skill. Students will work with the ESL specialist throughout the week during the student's classroom language arts instruction time, while continuing in the regular classroom setting for all other subject areas. We look forward to working with parents as a team to provide the best learning environment for each student in this enrichment program.
The Goals of our ESL Enrichment Programs are:
- Provide support necessary for students whose first language is not English
- Provide ESL instruction for grades Kindergarten through 6th grade where needed
- Include ESL students in the learning environment at our school at the appropriate grade level.
